Photophysics of π-conjugated metal–organic oligomers*
The optical absorption and photoluminescence properties of PPE-type π-conjugated oligomers that contain a 2,2-bipyridine-5,5′-diyl metal coordinating unit have been examined. The spectra of the free oligomers are compared with those that contain –Re(CO)3Cl and –Ru(bpy)2 2+ chromophores chelated to the bpy-diyl unit.
متن کاملMetal–organic complexation in the marine environment
We discuss the voltammetric methods that are used to assess metal-organic complexation in seawater. These consist of titration methods using anodic stripping voltammetry (ASV) and cathodic stripping voltammetry competitive ligand experiments (CSV-CLE). These approaches and a kinetic approach using CSV-CLE give similar information on the amount of excess ligand to metal in a sample and the condi...
متن کاملComplexation Reactions Between Trace Metals And Specific Functional Groups In Natural Organic Matter From Estuarine Waters
1) Concentration determination and isolation of purified fractions of natural thiols and natural acid polysaccharides for trace metal complexation and structural experiments. 2) Determination of conditional stability constants for the complexation of selected B metal ions (such as Ag, Hg, Cd, Cu, Pb) to specific thiolic functional groups in estuarine organic matter, and of A (e.g., Cs, Ba, Th) ...
متن کاملMercury reduction and complexation by natural organic matter in anoxic environments.
Mercuric Hg(II) species form complexes with natural dissolved organic matter (DOM) such as humic acid (HA), and this binding is known to affect the chemical and biological transformation and cycling of mercury in aquatic environments. Dissolved elemental mercury, Hg(0), is also widely observed in sediments and water. However, reactions between Hg(0) and DOM have rarely been studied in anoxic en...
متن کاملBinding of pyrene to hydrophobic fractions of dissolved organic matter: effect of polyvalent metal complexation.
The effects of polyvalent metal cations on pyrene binding to hydrophobic acid and neutral fractions (HoA and HoN, respectively) of dissolved organic matter (DOM) were elucidated. The DOM was isolated from sewage sludge; pyrene binding was estimated from fluorescence measurements. Isotherms of pyrene binding to both fractions were nonlinear. Pyrene binding was higher for HoN due to the combined ...
